Ayurveda
Ayurveda is the ancient medical system of India which is closely related to yoga. Ayurveda has developed unique dietary principles in accordance with a person’s body type and the six tastes of food.
The three basic body types or constitutions are Vata (air element), Pitta (fire element) and Kapha (earth/water element).
Depending on what body type you have, your body’s demands for carbohydrates, protein and fat in meals will vary. Instead of working with calorie charts, Ayurveda utilises the sense of taste and an understanding of the predominant elements in food in comparison with the predominant elements in one’s personal constitution.
